Once Upon a Us ("we", "us") operates Once Upon a Us, an app that generates illustrated children's storybooks using artificial intelligence. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information we collect

• Account information — the username and email address you provide when you register.
• Content you create — the story prompts you write, images you upload as character references, and the storybooks generated for you.
• Usage data — how many stories you create and related counters we use to enforce plan limits.
• Purchase data — subscription and purchase status. Payments are processed by Apple (in-app purchases) and Stripe (printed books); we do not receive or store your full card number.

How we use your information

• To generate your storybooks and operate the service.
• To enforce subscription tiers and usage limits.
• To process purchases and fulfill printed-book orders.
• To keep the service safe, including moderating prompts and reviewing reported content.

Third-party services

We share the minimum data necessary with service providers who process it on our behalf:

• Google (Gemini API) — receives your prompts and reference images to generate stories, illustrations, and narration.
• Apple — processes in-app subscription purchases.
• Stripe — processes payments for printed books.
• Lulu — prints and ships physical books (receives the book file and shipping address you provide).
• Cloudflare — stores and delivers generated media.

Children's privacy

Once Upon a Us is intended for use by adults (such as parents and guardians) who create storybooks for children. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Data retention & deletion

We retain your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account in the app. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Reference photos. Photos you upload are used solely to illustrate your storybooks. They are sent to our AI providers only for that purpose and are never used to train AI models — by us, or by our providers under the API terms we use. Photos saved to your character bank are retained until you delete them or your account; transient copies staged for a generation are deleted automatically shortly afterward.
